Welcome to MindControl - the new way to launch your applications.
The basics
MindControl is a launcher that responds to simple keyboard commands. With MindControl, it's easy to open applications, documents, folders, server volumes and URLs in a few quick keystrokes. Designed specifically for iBook and PowerBook computers, MindControl lets you spend less time navigating and more time working.
Along with saving time, MindControl saves valuable screen space. Unlike most launcher applications, MindControl stays out of the way until you need it. Once it finishes its job, MindControl steps out of the way.
MindControl streamlines the steps involved in viewing a web page or sending e-mail. Instead of searching through a Bookmarks or Favorites dialog, you can use a MindControl command to open your web browser to a specific URL. When you want to send e-mail, MindControl can open your e-mail application and display a new message with the recipient name already inserted.
You can use MindControl to switch between applications, or to display all open windows in an application and bring one window to the front. You can even specify the application you want to use to open a Finder selected document. This is handy when you have several versions of an application, or when multiple applications can access your document, as is the case with some text and graphics files.
MindControl also features built-in system commands that tell your Macintosh to open a desktop item, eject a disk, unmount/eject volumes, restart, shut down or enter sleep mode.
MindControl can quickly launch AppleScripts to automate your Macintosh. In addition, MindControl itself is scriptable, so you can use AppleScripts to automatically add or delete commands. This powerful capability allows you to condense multiple actions into a single script. You can then define a MindControl command to launch that script.
To execute a MindControl command:
1 Press Command+Tilde (~). This displays the MindControl command bar.
2 Enter a command, using one of the following options:
• Type in a command. This can be one of those listed in the popup menu or a built-in command such as open, unmount or eject (followed by a file or volume name).
• Use the arrow or tab keys to cycle through the list of available commands until the one you want is highlighted.
